We are pleased to offer this rare and very early example of one of Vasa Mihich's famed group sculptures.
"Greek Columns" exemplifies Vasa's mastery of color dynamism. It was repolished and reconditioned in 2017 by Mihich exclusively for Caviar20.
Composed of four columns in cherry red, tangerine orange, sea blue and neon pink, the main colors vanish or transform depending on how they are positioned individually and in relation to their siblings.
Perhaps most dramatically, the columns can be turned so their slimmest side faces outwards and the viewer is confronted with a completely different palette. Each of the columns reveals an ombre effect - teal green morphs into indigo, pale blue becomes electric grape, tangerine orange slides into lemon, and lime fades into a translucent yellow.
Vasa Mihich is a renowned Los Angeles based artist known for his sleek, colorful and captivating acrylic sculptures. He was a Senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he taught color theory.
For nearly 50 years he has been working in acrylics, either on canvas or through sculpture.
Mihich's sculptures photograph well, but to truly appreciate these works they need to be observed in person.
